The new Galleria Fine Arte , at 1971 Guptil Road, Waterbury Center, VT, is hosting the Vermont Plein Air Octoberfest Sept 30 - Oct 2, 2011, coinciding with the VT Fall Open Studio Weekend happening across the state. I will be joining other local and regional artists to paint in the Stowe area Friday, Sept 30 and Saturday, Oct 1. Several of us will be set up outside the Trapp Family Lodge Bakery for both Friday and Saturday, so come see what we're up to! We'll be showing all our created pieces collectively at a reception Sunday Oct 2 from 5 to 7 pm at the Galleria Fine Arte. All paintings (watercolors, pastels and oils) will be framed and ready for sale. The exhibit will stay up for the month of October.

     I'm planning to paint on location outside the Trapp Family Lodge Bakery from 9 am til 5 pm both Friday and Saturday, creating watercolors (11 x 14" framed) of the incredible surrounding vistas. We'll be checking into the Galleria Fine Arte each morning around 8 am to have our paper and canvases stamped before heading out of doors to paint. The artists will join up again at the gallery around 5:30 or 6 pm each day for a light dinner to exchange stories from the day.

     Painting "en plein air" (out of doors) challenges us as artists, and the artwork generated often has more energy, capturing that exact moment in time more effectively than art created in the studio. Come meet us as we paint on Friday and Saturday at the Trapp Family Lodge Bakery, and at the reception Sunday Oct 2 from 5 to 7 pm at the Galleria Fine Arte, 1971 Guptil Road (a right-hand turn off of Route 100 heading north toward Stowe off of I-89) in Waterbury Center, VT.
